Life story & identity
We use life story work to understand important memories, roles and relationships. This helps us support people in ways that feel comforting and familiar.
Hadleigh Court is a small, family-run residential home offering calm, compassionate support for people living with dementia. The home has been in the same family for over forty years and has recently passed to the next generation, who are tastefully updating the environment in line with modern dementia-informed design while retaining its familiar and classic mid-century charm.
Our care is shaped around understanding each person as an individual — their history, roles, preferences and the small details that help life feel familiar and reassuring. We focus on comfort, safety and genuine connection.
We use life story work to understand important memories, roles and relationships. This helps us support people in ways that feel comforting and familiar.
Cosy lounges, quiet corners, safe walking routes and a consistent staff team help reduce anxiety and enable people to recognise faces and feel secure.
Our team is trained in dementia communication and supportive approaches to distress. We use kindness, patience and reassurance — never punitive methods.
Daily life is gentle, purposeful and flexible. Activities are shaped around what people enjoy, what feels familiar and what supports their emotional wellbeing.
Music and singing, reminiscence, gardening, baking, crafts and everyday tasks that feel familiar and purposeful.
Fresh, traditional menus with plenty of choice, snacks between meals and personalised support with eating and drinking, including texture-modified diets.
Outings in our wheelchair-accessible minibus to the coastline, parks and local attractions, and support to maintain meaningful community connections where possible.
Hadleigh Court has 27 comfortable bedrooms, communal lounges overlooking sunny gardens and a traditional dining room where home-cooked meals are served.
Each bedroom includes en-suite facilities (toilet and washbasin), a call bell, television and space for personal furniture and keepsakes. Residents are encouraged to bring favourite items from home.
Lounges overlook the gardens and offer a choice of sociable or quiet areas. The secure, level garden paths make it easier for people to enjoy fresh air safely.
We serve fresh, home-cooked meals every day with plenty of choice. We support special diets, including texture-modified meals and diabetic diets, and are happy to discuss individual needs.
Our care is guided by six core principles: privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment.
We aim to create a calm, homely environment where people feel safe, respected and genuinely known.
We are currrently undergoing a period of renewal, and will post updates about the work here.
Hadleigh Court is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Our current rating and latest inspection report can be viewed on the CQC website.
